Solution
KMG provided the maintenance and enhancement support for this application. KMG deployed an onsite coordinator at the client’s end. This person interacted closely with the client to understand the application & the innards of the code. Once the desired level of knowledge transfer was achieved, a formal off-shore support-team was established under the leadership of this onsite coordinator. The team comprised of resources proficient in Microsoft & AS/400 technology. The coordinator acted as a liaison between the client & KMG teams.

Project Description
The client used an application for the policy submission and tracking tool for his HO and Branch Offices users. It was integrated with the AS/400 for maintaining the policy data.
The client wanted maintenance and enhancement support for this application.

Major Issues / Challenges
The software had been written by the client’s internal IT team. The knowledge was very closely held. The intricacies of the system could be understood only through a very close interaction with the original developers.
Secondly, although the application was written using ASP/VB, it was very closely integrated to an AS/400. The communication between the web & the AS/400 systems was through a customized tool. The client’s resources proficient with Microsoft technology had limited knowledge of AS/400.
